1. Stone Villa — My Top Pick for a Bed & Breakfast Stay (Near Train Station)

Stone Villa is first on my list of the best places to stay in Chester — and for good reason.
I stayed here a few years ago with some American girlfriends on a UK girls’ trip, and we were all impressed by how warm and welcoming the staff were.
They even stored our luggage for free when we headed to London, which was a lifesaver for us chronic over-packers!

This B&B sits on a quiet residential street in Hoole, just a 5-minute walk from Chester Station and less than a mile from the city centre.
Hoole itself is a lovely neighborhood with independent cafés, cosy pubs, and great restaurants.
Be sure to book a table at Sticky Walnut — it’s one of the best restaurants in Chester.
Rooms at Stone Villa are simple, clean, and comfortable. No frills, but everything you need.
Breakfast is excellent, and free on-site parking is a big bonus (though the spaces can be tight).
Stone Villa is ideal for couples who want a peaceful, affordable stay in a friendly Bed & Breakfast setting.
2. The Pied Bull – Best Pub Stay in Chester for Character & History

This is Chester’s oldest inn, dating to 1155.
The pub has tons of period detail like wooden beams, cosy fireplaces, hearty pub grub, and even a microbrewery onsite.
Rooms mix historic quirks (wonky floors included!) with modern comforts.
The location is excellent. The Pied Bull sits on Northgate Street, just steps from the Roman Walls, Chester Cathedral, and The Rows.
It’s a great choice if you love historic buildings, good-value stays, and craft beer.
Because it’s a pub in the city centre, it might not be the best pick for light sleepers.
