Language
English is the main language spoken across the UK, but in certain areas, you’ll also hear (and see written) Welsh, Gaelic, and Irish. Accents vary wildly and change within short distances.
Some common phrases are:
Fancy a cuppa? – Would you like a cup of hot tea with milk?
Fancy a pint? – Would you like to go to the pub for a beer?
I’m chuffed to bits – I’m really pleased or happy about something.
Currency
The currency in the UK is the British Pound Sterling (GBP).
Weather
The weather in the UK is notoriously unpredictable, thanks to its island location — you can experience sunshine, rain, and everything in between all in one day!

My travel experiences across the UK…
To say I’m familiar with the United Kingdom would be a serious understatement!
I was born and raised in the north-west city of Liverpool (home of The Beatles and Liverpool Football Club). I’ve lived in several corners of the UK: I studied at university in Leeds, lived and worked in Bristol in England’s southwest, London, and later settled in Chester, a beautiful town near the English/Welsh border.
My husband’s family is originally from South Wales, and between us, we’ve explored nearly every part of the UK — from the Highlands of Scotland to the Pembrokeshire coast in Wales and the rugged landscapes of Northern Ireland.
