Hi! I’m Krissy — travel blogger, travel advisor, and creator of Midlife Wanderluster

I’m also in my early 50s, a first-time empty nester, and someone who’s spent decades juggling motherhood, work, and all the chaos in between! When my oldest went off to college in 2023, I finally had the time to ask myself: What next?

That question sparked a renewed passion for travel — not just as a hobby, but as a path to self-discovery and purpose in midlife.

Midlife Wanderluster is a travel blog designed for women 45+ navigating life after kids, career shifts, or reinvention. Whether you’re dreaming about your first solo adventure or planning a trip with a partner or friend, I’m here to help you go from “someday” to “booked.”

Originally from the UK, I bring a dual perspective to European and American travel. I’ve spent the past 15+ years exploring and rediscovering the UK, Spain, Italy, and Portugal — and now curate tailored trips for clients who want meaningful, culturally-rich travel experiences.

So if you’re looking for travel inspiration, or simply seeking permission to put yourself first — you’re in the right place!

Where I’ve Been

Travel Destinations

UK

  • England
  • Wales
  • Scotland
  • Northern Ireland

The UK will always feel like home — and now I’m so excited to share it with you! I’ve lived and explored all over this small island nation.

If you’re new to international travel, the UK is a perfect launching point. It’s easy to reach, has a great public transport system, no language barrier, and shares many cultural similarities — minus the obsession with tea!

Spain

  • Andalusia
  • Catalonia
  • Castille-La Mancha
  • Balearics & Canary Islands

Oh Spain, how I love you so! I have been lucky enough to visit this magnificent country over a dozen times — and I’m still not done!

If Spain is on your travel bucket list, I can help create a customized itinerary that captures the heart and soul of this beautiful, and diverse, country. From San Sebastian in the north to the southern region of Cádiz in Andalusia, you too will fall in love!

I’ve helped clients travel with ease all across this magnificent country, from Dublin t Galway to Kerry to Kilkenny and beyond. It never disappoints! I can help to create your own Irish adventure based on your individual travel style.

Italy

  • Rome
  • The Italian Lakes
  • Tuscany
  • Bologna

Italy is a country I will never get tired of visiting. Every region has it’s own distinct beauty, culture and identity — and of course food!

I’ve love helping clients plan culturally-rich, experiential itineraries that are personal and unhurried. In Italy, more than anywhere esle, I’ll always advocate for slow travel. If La Dolce Vita is calling you — reach out and I can help you have an unforgettable travel experience.

USA

  • Tennessee
  • Florida
  • California
  • Massachusetts

I continue to explore every corner of the USA since landing here in 2009. I’ve lived in two States — who knows where I’l land next!

As a history lover, my favorite city is Boston — I enjoy learning about that period of history. Each time I go, I discover something new — the Beacon Hill neighborhood is my top recommendation, maybe because it reminds me of some of the places I’ve traveled in Europe?

France

  • Normandy
  • Paris
  • Marseilles
  • Brittany

I will forever have a deep and personal connection with France, having lived and worked there in my 20s.

France is a perennial favorite with my US-based clients for good reason — its beautiful. Maybe because I lived there but my favorite region is Normandy — I love it’s history, the food and of course, Calvados!

A vibrant Lisbon tram passes through a historic street, capturing the essence of Portugal's urban life.

My Story

Blogging & Traveling

British Expat Living in the USA

Originally from the UK, I’ve lived in the Stateside for the past 15 years, and have spent just as long helping my American friends plan trips to Europe and beyond. I especially love helping clients travel to the UK and Ireland, encouraging them to look beyond London and discover some of my favorite places.

How I Got Started Blogging

I started blogging as a natural extension of everything I’ve always loved: storytelling, content creation, and travel.

I spent a career in marketing, but it was always copywriting and the creative side that sparked the most joy — crafting messages, sharing stories, and making connections through words.

After turning 50, I decided to focus my energy on things that fill my cup the most — and for me, that’s travel. I was always the go-to person for travel advice — building custom itineraries and making personalized recommendations. That’s when I realized I could combine my professional skills with my passion and build something of my own.

Becoming a certified travel advisor and blogger is the perfect fit for me — and I love it!

My Travel Style

I’m an independent (and moderately active) traveler. I love unique, meaningful experiences — like learning to cook pasta in an Italian home or joining a historical walking tour led by a passionate local. I’m a planner at heart — but I’m also a wanderer — so every itinerary I create includes time to slow down and get a little lost. I love boutique hotel stays and perfectly positioned villa rentals. I love to cook, so my travel often combines these two styles of accommodation.

Where Am I Going Next?

Surprise (ok maybe not!) but I’m heading back to Europe! First stop: England, where I’ll be spending time in London, Cambridge, Liverpool, Chester, and the stunning Peak District National Park. I’ll also spend three days in Edinburgh, Scotland. After that, I’m jetting off to one of my favorite Mediterranean islands — Mallorca.
