Baltic Triangle Liverpool: 7 Best Things to See and Do
The Baltic Triangle in Liverpool is just a short walk from main the city centre.
This gritty, industrial area has been transformed from a stretch of abandoned warehouses into one of Liverpool’s liveliest and creative neighborhoods.
As a Liverpudlian now living in the US, I visit every year to rediscover old favorites and see what’s new. And on my last trip, I was amazed by how much this area had changed.
Here are my top picks for what to see and do in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle — plus a few extras!
1. Take A Walking Tour
If it’s your first time visiting Liverpool, don’t miss this chance to pair a Baltic Triangle walking tour with a visit to Liverpool’s two incredible cathedrals:
- The Liverpool Cathedral
- Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral
I recommend this highly-rated Liverpool Cathedrals & Baltic Triangle – 2 Hour Private Walking Tour. 👉 Book Your Tickets Now
It will give you a real feel for the area’s history and local culture.

2. Explore Cains Brewery Village
A must-see when visiting the Baltic Triangle, this massive bohemian-style complex feels like a village within the city.
Built on the site of the original Cains Brewery, it’s now a thriving cultural hub with design studios, food markets, bars, vintage shops, and more. Dont miss:
Baltic Market
Liverpool’s first street food hall. This market has rotating vendors, craft beer and live music. Go hungry!

The Yellow Submarine Bar
This quirky, Beatles-themed bar is a must for fans on the Fab-4!
I recommend visiting in the afternoon when the area starts to come alive.

3. Browse the Red Brick Vintage Market
Within the Cains Brewery Village, you’ll also find the Red Brick Vintage Market.
Inside you’ll discover more than 50 independent traders selling:
- Vintage Fashion
- Vinyl Records
- Antiques
- Secondhand Books
- Local Artwork
- Handmade Gifts
I recommend you set aside an hour exploring the individual stores.
Expert seriously quirky, one-of-a-kind finds and retro home decor. There’s also a café.
The market is open Monday to Saturday, from 10 AM to 6 PM, and Sunday from 11 AM to 6 PM.

4. Hunt for Street Art
The Baltic Triangle is quickly becoming a known for its growing street art scene.
Like Shoreditch in East London, the Baltic Triangle’s brightly painted murals breathe life back into the old brick industrial warehouses.
Make sure to check out the following streets:
- Kitchen Street
- Jamaica Street
- Watkinson Street
- St. James Street
Don’t miss the famous Liver Bird wings mural on Jamaica Street by Liverpool-born artist Pail Curtis — it’s a perfect photo op.
Beatles fans should also check out the mural of John, Paul, George, and Ringo on Jamaica Street, by artist John Culshaw.
5. Discover Baltic Triangle’s Hidden Gems
But there’s more to uncover in the Baltic triangle than just the main attractions.
This area is full of little-known gems that reveal Liverpool’s rich history — you just need to know where to find them!
Here are a few of my favorites:
The Ghost Sign at Queen’s Stores Warehouse
This now faded, hand-painted sign on Bridgewater Street offers a glimpse into Liverpool’s maritime history.
The Baltic Triangle is named after its bustling 19th-century timber trade, which saw wood imported from Baltic countries like Sweden and Norway pass through Liverpool’s docks and warehouses.
Wapping Tunnel Ventilation Shaft
OK, this isn’t exactly show-stopping, but this unassuming structure at the junction of St. James Street and Jamaica Street, marks the world’s first underground rail tunnel built beneath a city opened in 1960.
St. Vincent De Paul Church Bell Tower
On St. James Street, you’ll find a rare example of iron-and-timber Gothic Revival architecture at St. Vincent De Paul’s Roman Catholic Church. The tower dates back to 1856.
The “Chinese-Style” Theatre
This curious, ornate building on Hope Place was built in the 2000s. It was never a theatre, Chinese or otherwise, but possibly a nod to Liverpool’s neighboring Chinatown, pictured above.
6. Relax at the Ukrainian Peace Garden
This green space celebrates Liverpool’s strong Ukrainian community and stands as a symbol of hope and friendship.
There’s also a giant chess board if you fancy yourself a grandmaster!
7. Tee Off with a Twist at Golf Fang
Last on my top 7 things to see and do in the Baltic Triangle Liverpool is Golf Fang.
Think indoor, crazy golf with a twist.
This spot combines golf with street art, DJs, karaoke and a lively bar and food scene.
It’s young, colorful and loud!

Getting to the Baltic Triangle
The Baltic Triangle sits just south of Liverpool’s city center, and is an easy walk from popular spots like Liverpool ONE.
As the name suggests, its boarders form a triangle — Liver Street to the north, St. James Street to the east, and Wapping to the west and south.
- From Liverpool ONE: Walk south for about 10 minutes until you reach Jamaica Street.
- By train: Liverpool Central is the nearest Merseyrail station.
- From Liverpool Lime Street Station: A quick taxi-ride will get yo to the area in under 10 minutes.
Final Thoughts
If you’re looking to experience a different side of Liverpool, the Baltic Triangle is a must.
It’s a refreshing alternative from the typical Beatles and waterfront tourist trail, in one compact and walkable area.
